Grown in the Kyoto Imperial region, this tea is a marriage between a refined sencha tea, well known for its subtle aroma and flavour and a Matcha tea, a fine powder made from the same fresh leaves used to obtain the prestigious Gyokuro, shaded from the sun before the plucking. Both are from Uji.
Its leaves – of a jade green hue, elegant and regular – yield colour and brightness to the transparent liqueur.
The cup, a rare balance of strength and delicacy, produces a rich, smooth liqueur and a flowery bouquet, fresh and sparkling with a slightly sweet and persistent note.
This modern Tanka, derived from the eminent form of Japanese literature, is poetry to be leafed through ever so slowly.
This modern Tanka, from the name of the eminent Japanese literature, is a poem to be thinned out the leaves.
